About Patricia Woods
 
     
 

Patricia Woods has worked in the field of mental health for fourteen years. She has provided services to adults,children, and adolescents in a variety of settings; schools, clinics, acute residential care for children, and residential treatment for juvenile offenders in the custody of the Department of Youth Services. She has had a personal practice of yoga and meditation for many years and has continued to train in these areas. 

In 2003, Patricia participated in a professional training program in Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction, at the University of Massachusetts Medical School, Stress Reduction Center, Worcester, MA.  In 2005, she completed her 200 Hour Yoga Teacher Training at Frog Pond Yoga Centre in Princeton, MA.  Whole Health Fitness is the synthesis of her professional and personal experience in the areas of counseling, yoga, stress management, and mindfulness.

Patricia has worked with many individuals in her clinical practice who have felt stuck in certain areas of their lives and unable to create change. Over the years, she has worked with clients to incorporate aspects of mindfulness into their lives and found it to be very helpful.

The mission of Whole Health Fitness is to help individuals improve the quality of their lives through the practice of mindfulness. Mindfulness is the ability to be aware and attentive to the present moment. It enables us to more closely view our behaviors to find opportunities to make desired changes, rather than continuing to repeat automatic behaviors.

Many individuals find mindfulness can help them become “unstuck”, to let go of old issues and move on, and to be more in control of their thoughts. They begin to see that they have more choices and options in their lives, and as a result, often feel more calm and relaxed.

Whole Health Fitness offers opportunities to experience the practice of mindfulness through wellness workshops, yoga instruction, mindfulness based stress reduction classes, and counseling services. Clients experience the ease in which mindfulness can be incorporated into their life, experience the benefits of mindfulness, and realize that change is attainable.
